Amateur dancers in the Pro-Am may be newcomer competitors or amateur competitors who have not placed in the top 3 in an amateur mix & match or strictly competition at HRH or like events. You may still qualify if you have placed, for example, in a Collegiate Shag competition but not in Balboa or vice versa. In this case, you are eligible to compete as an amateur in the dance style for which you have not placed in the top 3.
Amateur dancers entering a Pro-Am are responsible for asking a Pro to compete with them. HRH does not pair Ams and Pros together.
Pros are dancers whose primary source of income is teaching Balboa or Collegiate Shag, or those who may be hired at regional, national, or international events regardless of their primary source of income. "Local Teachers" may also dance as the Pro in this competition.
Pros may dance with a maximum of 2 amateur partners.
It is customary that the amateur dancer signs up and pays for the contest.
Format The Pro-Am will be run as a "finals", where all amateur competitors will have the opportunity to showcase their dancing in front of a judging panel. Only the amateur dancer will be judged.
Competitors will dance in an all-skate format to two or more songs. The number of couples per heat will depend on the number of overall entries. This format is subject to change, but the final format will be communicated to you before your contest.
