Austin is a vacation destination!
Find dancing any night of the week! From Two-Step to Salsa, and no shortage of Swing, you can find any type of dancing or kick back and watch a live band. Regular swing dance nights happen weekly, and local clubs offer a variety of live-music dancing options that change each week.
Explore the famed clubs of South Congress, a cultural hub of Austin. Catch a show at The Continental Club, grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants or food trucks, or just wander around the shops. Then head over to South Lamar to visit the Broken Spoke for a real piece of honky-tonk history.
Shop the eclectic stores on The Drag, or the South Congress and Eastside neighborhoods, or head to North Loop for vintage galore. Not into shopping? Get outdoors in our warm winter weather! Austin is home to the historic Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Park, hike and bike trails both in the city and surrounding hill country, and Lady Bird Lake right in the middle of town. Rent a bike, paddle the lake, or just sit on a patio with a cool drink and good eats. The options are endless!
Make sure you take the time to try Austin’s famous breakfast tacos and barbecue! Yes, tacos for breakfast, queso any time of day, and some of the best barbecue in the south. Austinites have definite opinions on which barbecue is considered the “best” so you will have to try for yourself - Franklin's, La Barbecue, or Valentina’s, just to name a few! Unfortunately, Freedman's across the street from the Fed has closed.
