The Texas Federation of Women's Clubs Headquarters (aka: the Fed) has been the epicenter of the Austin Swing dance community since the late 90's. Completed in 1931, the Fed is a legitimate mansion, complete with spacious, beautiful dance floors and stunning decor. The Fed has a long history, predating the modern Swing revival. Local troops were entertained here during World War II, and jazz greats such as Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman have graced its ballroom. In its halls, you can find an elegance befitting the jazz era. It is a Texas Historic Landmark, an Austin Historic Landmark, and on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the main venue for Hot Rhythm Holiday.
